Crandall opened the meeting at 10AM. He said that we havenŐt
met much this year but he feels we need to move forward and have something done
and estimated for Town Meeting. The Selectmen have agreed to help us move
forward and have asked us to concentrate on the rear parking area first.
1. Parking/Access issues – We discussed what has been
decided so far to deal with issues behind the buildings. Create a larger
parking lot by carving back the hill and install a retaining wall, put in a
walkway/ stairway in the retaining wall and up to the buildings, widen and
reduce the slope of the roadway down to the parking area and create some
parking up top near the leach field along with the handicap parking for the SH
and TH. Angle parking will be retained on the right side of Town Hall. One
parking spot on either side of the Schoolhouse will be designated for Police
parking. Schwartz said that there are some utilities behind the buildings that
will need to be considered. She will work on a sketch of what we are
considering. We will work with Parks and Rec to decide about the playground and
equipment. Schwartz said we probably want to keep some equipment on the site
and move other equipment to the Library lot. Crandall said the TVC subcommittee
has been authorized by the BoS to work with Anthony
Costello to figure out design possibilities for the plan and estimate needs for
achieving it. He will let us know of any planned meeting with Costello.
Jager said that drainage
is needed in front of the church because there is ponding after storms. We
discussed pavement versus gravel and made no decision on it.
We went outside and toured
the location behind the town buildings. Crandall will speak with Costello and
let us know of a meeting date and time.
2. Town Pound – Schwartz noted that Rouse and Trimarco have rehung the Town Pond sign near the pound site.
She has design examples of an informational sign for the pound and we will
review them later.
3. Speed
signs – The town has ordered the radar speed signs for
both ends of town but they havenŐt been installed yet.
4. Other Issues – None were mentioned at this time.
Adjourned at 11:00AM
Respectfully
submitted,
Nan Schwartz, Planning
Board Secretary
