WASHINGTON PLANNING BOARD

Town Center Vision Subcommittee – Working Meeting Minutes

February 5, 2020

Members Present:  Lolly Gilbert, Jim Crandall (phone) and Nan Schwartz

Public attending: Jared Reynolds

Gilbert opened the meeting at 9AM and passed out an agenda. Since only two of the committee were in attendance we walked over to the General Store to speak with Ryan Curran. He wasnÕt there so we will contact him at a later time.

1. Parking/Access issues – Chidester couldnÕt make the meeting due to business issues. He emailed to say he would have updates to the plan next week. Crandall thinks we should stay simple with the plan for Town Meeting and let people know we will hold a public charrette/planning session sometime next summer to get ideas and opinions from the community.

2. Town Pound – No discussion.

3. Walking Tour – Schwartz said that Gwen Gaskell has decided that the walking tour should be under the purview of the Historical Society. Gilbert, Schwartz and Kluk offered her their help to work on this, if needed.

4. Grant from USDA – Gilbert and Schwartz went over the grant materials with Reynolds. They will try to meet with Ryan Curran to see if he would be interested in pursuing a grant. Reynolds said that if we could wrap some of our larger project into this it might be advantageous. Schwartz will reach out to Thayer about the project costs.

Schwartz said that Provencher got a return email from DOT regarding the crosswalk and that there are better site lines now that the lot on the corner was re-graded. She shared the email and felt maybe this could be a part of the grant. Reynolds has offered to help with the grant but will be away from February 14 – March 1st.

5. Other Issues – Schwartz said she contacted Chief Murdough about a solar radar speed sign. He was thinking about this option also and contacted the Antrim Police Chief for information about their signs. Murdough said there is a possibility for a state safety grant to pay for part of the cost. Antrim sent all the information about their signs, which will be very helpful.
