Planning Board members met at Town
Hall and traveled together to Dale MoserŐs property at 143 North Main Street. Moser
showed us the premises and answered our questions. She first showed us the
porch area that would be her retail site. It is 8 feet by 20 feet and contains
a cooler and various shelving units to hold her baked goods. She wants to have
a self-serve bakery counter on the porch with a locked cash box. The porch is
separate from the house and kitchen areas.
She showed us her certifications
from the state; her Homestead food service license and
yearly Public Health Inspection certificate and her ŇServing It SafeÓ
certification. She said she isnŐt allowed to bake cream based products under
her homestead license (no cream puffs or cheesecakes) but she has a great
variety of goods that she bakes and sells. She explained that the state
requires her to document all her processes from beginning to packaging for her
homestead license. Her kitchen is 13 feet by 8 feet with another area housing
her ovens and cooling racks that is 18 feet by 8 feet. Kluk noted that she
would need parking for 2 extra vehicles. We determined she has 1700 sq. ft.
available for parking. We returned to the Town Hall at 12:29.
Cook called the Public Hearing to order at 1:00PM.
Cook stated that this is a public
hearing on Dale MoserŐs application for a home business for retail baked goods
at her home on North Main Street. She is upgrading from a cottage business in
order to now have a retail site. Cook went through the checklist for the site
plan review application. We receive one abutter comment from Donna Cilley, who
requested that there is no neon flashing sign installed in the premises. Moser
said she would have one outdoor light on the building next to the entry of the
porch (non-flashing). The deed was provided. Dale said that the state tests her
water yearly and she has an inspection by the NH Department of Health. There being no further questions, Dagesse made a motion to
accept the application as complete, Marshall seconded the motion, and all voted
in favor. Cook closed the hearing at 1:14 PM and opened the meeting at 1:15 PM.
Marshall made a motion to approve
the application for a self-serve bakery business from Dale Moser, Dagesse
seconded the motion and all voted in favor.
We then took up MoserŐs sign
application. She is requesting a sign on the house that will be 18Ó by 48Ó and
two directional signs that will be 9Ó by 48Ó. She will be placing the
directional signs along Rt. 31 – one by the transfer station and one on
the north entrance to town near Pillsbury State Park. She will install them
according to the LUO. Schwartz made a motion to approve MoserŐs sign
application, Marshall seconded and all voted in favor. Moser hopes to open in a
few weeks, when everything is in place.
Marshall motioned to adjourn at
1:35 PM, Dagesse seconded, all voted in favor.
Dagesse will generate the business
permit and send it to Moser.
Respectfully Submitted,
Nan Schwartz
